A landscape is the most forgiving thing you can hang. It does not need to match anything, it does not look back at you, and if it is any good it makes a room feel like it has a window in a wall that does not.
The twelve here run from Constable's damp English field to Bruegel's snow, and they are chosen to cover the two moods a landscape has to serve: the ones that open a room up (wide skies, distant horizons) and the ones that close it down into somewhere warm (a path, a fire, a village in the snow).
One technical note that affects the price more than anything else: landscapes are where people want the largest canvas, and the largest canvases are where a cheap reproduction shows. At 36 × 48 inches a print is a poster; a hand-painted canvas is a wall. If the budget is fixed, buy a smaller painting rather than a larger print.
Rule of thumb: the canvas should cover about two thirds of the wall width it hangs on, and its centre should sit at 57–60 inches from the floor. Read the wall-size guide before ordering anything larger than 30 × 40 — it is the mistake we see most.
Narrow walls want vertical subjects — the cypresses, the poplars, the fog-bound wanderer. Wide walls want the haystacks, the harvest, the ice.
Every painting in this collection is made to order and can be produced in a size that is not listed. Prices on each page are the published starting price for the smallest canvas; larger sizes step up on the same ladder, so there is no quote to wait for.
Questions
Yes. Panoramic crops are the most common custom request we get for this collection. The artist will confirm the crop against a photograph of the wall before painting; there is no surcharge beyond the normal price step for the extra area.
The quiet ones: Haystacks, Mont Sainte-Victoire, The Magpie. Heavy gilt frames fight modern furniture, so choose a black or oak floater and let the painting be the only old thing in the room.
Three to five weeks of painting for most sizes, longer above 36 × 48 inches because the paint layers need time between them. Rush delivery is available for $90 when the calendar allows it — ask before you rely on it.
Send the wall dimensions and the piece you have in mind. We will confirm the size that keeps the composition intact and the date we can actually keep.
